I love the mary poppins one!
Wait. Is Avenue Q and Chicago closing, or was it going to close then decided not to?
They will most likely be closing soon, but have not announced anything thence the partial cross off.
Avenue Q and chicago are not closing. They are both doing well finacially.
Gahh. That is one depressing list.I find it funny how the family friendly musicals are some of the last to survive. I smell censorship.:X
Thank God for ITH
Avenue Q is rumored. Chicago, just hopeful...
Last time I checked, Avenue Q was averaging roughly 250k and 60% a week, which is not that great. True, the running costs are low, but still...that sounds like nearing a closing date to me.
Oops, Chicago played to 97% Christmas Week. Um, probably not closing.
Ooops, Spamalot played to 98.6% Christmas Week, and Grease played to 95.3%. Um, probably not closing.Oh wait! Spamalot and Grease both just closed! Hmm. I wonder if Christmas Week is a TERRIBLE LITMUS TEST as to whether a show is doing good business?
To be fair, the last week before a show closes generally isn't a fair litmus test no matter what the week, especially with two more-or-less popular shows who have the people who wanted to see it one last time all coming in.For example, this coming week, I'll bet Spring Awakening's receipts are way way up because of the teenyboppers who OMG must see it one more time!!!1!onePersonally, I'm still shocked Grease ran that long.
Apparently Spamalot was running another week? I missed that. Also, I probably should have done a partial-cross of Pal Joey. Yes it just extended, but I don't see it going back March 1st.The sad thing is how many of these theaters are going to remain empty afterwards...
